Portland, Maine internet marketing firm, Page One Web Solutions (P1WS), teamed up with Portland-based community radio station, WMPG, to design and develop a brand new website. The custom-built WordPress website complies with the latest web standards, is responsive for all devices, and features the ability to archive shows for on-demand streaming at a later time. These innovative traits provide advanced functionality which offers a more intuitive experience; making it simpler for users to navigate the site and benefit from its many features. The dynamic new site supports WMPG's listener-centric mission and ensures that user needs are the highest priority.
Page One Web Solutions built a website for WMPG that would make it easy to keep updated and current. Previously, updating the WMPG site was labor intensive, allowing them to only update certain areas of the site, while others became stagnant and outdated. The previous functionality held the website and its users back due to its inability to allow listeners to enjoy their favorite programs at their chosen time, instead limiting them to only streaming shows that were on air at that time. P1WS created the new website for WMPG using the WordPress CMS Platform, which allows site administrators to easily add and change content without relying on a web developer. The new design, though professional and clean in appearance, also reflects the fun, funky, and free-spirited nature of the community radio station.
Jim Rand, WMPG's Station Manager said, "We love the new design of our website and now our staff and volunteers can easily add and change content so the site will stay current. Plus, the new site offers on-demand streams of every show in the schedule for up to 5 weeks of programming, which was something our listeners had been asking for. Courtesy of the Pacific Foundation, users can now listen to shows whenever they want."
With WMPG's semi-annual Begathon on March 17th, it was a perfect time to launch the new website. A significant portion of WMPG's annual budget is supplied via listener donations from each Begathon. WMPG urges their listeners to call in and take part in the upcoming event and visit their new website to explore the exciting new features that are now available to them.
