NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man who was shot on the 1700 block of Kingston Avenue on Saturday afternoon has died, according to Norfolk Police.

"I was at my computer and I thought somebody was knocking at the door," Apollo Desantos said of the sounds he heard Saturday afternoon.

Police said someone shot the 38-year-old driver of a white van on Kingston Avenue in front of an apartment complex.

At the scene, it appeared the van crashed into a short brick wall. Investigators wouldn't confirm whether that was a result of the shooting.

The 38-year-old victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries and pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police are now looking for a blue or grey small vehicle with front end damage. There are no other details at time.

Several neighbors told 10 On Your Side they don't think its a bad neighborhood, but they don't feel safe.

"It's seemingly a quiet neighborhood, but then you constantly have these pockets of trouble and you constantly putting other people in danger for their own gain," Vanessa Carter-West said.

Stay tuned to WAVY.com for developments.
