Austin-based WP Engine has made a move to significantly bolster security of its WordPress hosting service, saying Monday that it has added two-factor authentication for all of its customers. According to WP Engine, it has added two-factor authentication for its user portal, which prevents unauthorized, third parties from gaining access to its' customers sites. Two factor authentication uses a phone call, text, or a special authentication app in addition to a password. In this case, WP Engine says it is using the Google Authenticator app to require entry of a code to allow access to its user portal, in addition to a password.
