CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A pipe bomb exploded near Clinton Central High School early Tuesday morning, according to the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.
Interim school superintendent Ralph Walker said in a statement the bomb was detonated inside a fence on the north edge of the football field. However, a media release from the sheriff's office states the explosion happened in a ditch on County Road 100 North, just north of the school grounds.
Nearby residents said the bomb detonated between midnight and 2 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.
Walker said someone found remains of the bomb and contacted authorities. Bomb sniffing dogs were used to ensure school property was safe. No additional explosives were found.
No one was injured and "at no time were any students, staff or members of the school cooperation in danger," according to the sheriff's office.
ATF, Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, Clinton Central School Corporation and Clinton County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 765-656-8477.
