NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man has been accused of raping a 32-year-old Yorktown woman Thursday night.
Officers and medics were called to a home on Roanoke Avenue at 11:30 p.m. last night.
A 32-year-old woman at the scene told officers that she physically and sexually assaulted by a man inside a home on the same block of Roanoke.
She reportedly indicated that she had met a man — later identified as Charles Randolph Jackson III — at a gathering earlier in the night, and went with him to his home.
Once there, the man reportedly refused to let her leave, threatened to shoot her, and physically and sexually assaulted her. According to police, she had "visible injuries about her person" and had escaped the home looking for help.
Officers later found the man asleep inside a home the victim had identified. He was then detained by police and identified as Jackson.
Police say the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Jackson has been charged with three counts of rape, one count of abduction, strangulation and assault and battery for the alleged incident.
