Are you using Google Drive, did you know that you can now compose a document in Google Docs and publish it directly to your WordPress site.
WordPress.com has launched a new Google Docs add-on that works with any WordPress.com or any self hosted WordPress site that uses the Jetpack plugin.
You can now write a blog post or article in Google Docs, collaborate with others, and publish a draft post to your WordPress site. When you have completed your article, you would need to login to your WordPress site, to publish the article, set your categories, tags, SEO keyword etc.
The advantages with using Google Docs as your writing tool, is that you now have another option working with collaborators without giving them access to your WordPress site and using Google Docs will eliminating any copying and pasting, re-uploading images, and re-formatting on your WordPress site if you use other document tools.
To Get StartedInstallation is simple, you visit the Chrome Store to install WordPress.com for Google Docs and click the blue "Free" button to install the add-on. Then follow the prompts to approve the add-on and you're all set.
After installing the add-on, you'll be able to open WordPress for Google Docs in any Google Doc and connect your sites.
Then click the "Add-ons" menu, select "WordPress.com for Google Docs", and click "Open". A sidebar will appear from where you can connect as many WordPress sites as you want as long as you have Jetpack installed (or if they're already hosted on WordPress.com).
Once you have a connected site simply click the blue "Save Draft" button to instantly send the contents of your Google Doc straight to your site where it will be saved as a draft.
The "WordPress.com for Google Docs" Add-on requires that you connect your site to your Google Apps account and that Jetpack's JSON API feature is enabled.
ConclusionFor me this is a great new option to write articles for my sites, I can do this from any device, as long as I have Google Installed. This will speed up the writing, with the collaboration with others to get good content published.
